Mommy Makeover
Also known as Post-Pregnancy Body Restoration · Combined Body Contouring
A Mommy Makeover is not a single procedure but a customised combination of surgical treatments designed to address the physical changes that commonly occur in the body following pregnancy, childbirth, and breastfeeding. It typically combines procedures targeting the breasts and abdominal area in a single surgical session, so patients benefit from one recovery period rather than several.

Am I a Good Candidate?
A Mommy Makeover may be appropriate for those who:
- Are in good overall physical health and at a stable weight
- Are a non-smoker, or willing to cease smoking at least 4–6 weeks prior to surgery
- Have completed their family and are not planning future pregnancies
- Have fully recovered from childbirth and finished breastfeeding — typically at least 6 months
- Have experienced changes to the breasts or abdomen following pregnancy that have not resolved with diet and exercise
- Have realistic expectations about what surgery can and cannot achieve
What to Expect — The Procedure
The specific combination chosen will depend on the patient’s individual concerns, anatomy, and goals. Your surgeon will assess all areas of concern during the pre-operative consultation and recommend the safest and most effective combination for your situation.
Pre-operative Care
- Cease smoking at least 4–6 weeks prior to surgery
- Avoid blood-thinning medications and supplements (aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, vitamin E) for 2 weeks before surgery
- Inform your surgeon of all current medications, allergies, and medical conditions
- Ensure breastfeeding has fully ceased and breast tissue has settled — typically at least 6 months post-breastfeeding
- Arrange for an extended period of childcare support — caring for young children during initial recovery will not be possible
- Reach and maintain a stable weight prior to surgery for the best and most lasting results
The following are general guidelines only. Your assigned surgeon will provide personalised pre and post-operative instructions during your consultation.
Post-operative Care
- Wear all prescribed compression garments and surgical bras as directed — important across all treated areas
- Avoid submerging incisions in water until your surgeon confirms the wounds are fully healed
- Attend all scheduled follow-up appointments — regular wound assessment across multiple sites is important
- Avoid lifting children or anything heavy for at least 4–6 weeks — particularly important to protect abdominal muscle repairs
- Drain tubes may be present if a tummy tuck is included — our care team will assist with monitoring
- Rest as much as possible in the early recovery period — recovery from combined procedures is more demanding
When to Call Your Surgeon
- High fever (above 38.3°C / 101°F)
- Sudden or rapidly increasing pain not relieved by prescribed medication
- Excessive bleeding or unusual discharge from the incision site
- Sudden swelling in one leg noticeably different from the other — may indicate a blood clot
- Sudden significant swelling, pain, or changes at any of the surgical sites
- Signs of allergic reaction — skin rash, severe itching, swelling, or difficulty breathing
